Harvard Poll: Young Voters Say Obama Will Lose

[ May these people be given the true gift of prophecy from heaven. ]

By Paul Bedard

More bad news for President Obama, this time from his alma mater, Harvard University. In a new poll, more younger voters, many of whom voted for him in 2008, think he will lose next year [that is, assuming that elections are not rigged, ed. ]

“This survey may well serve as an ominous sign for Barack Obama’s 2012 chances and the political engagement of America’s largest generation,” said John Della Volpe, polling director at Harvard’s Institute of Politics.

The details: 36 percent of so-called millennial voters, age 18-29, think Obama will lose; 30 percent say he will win.

[ In addition to the millions of babies murdered each year in the United States under the spurious and execrable banner of the "right to choose [death],” now we see how children are literally living in the streets and cars of this once great country… It was the suffering of the children in Sodom that lead to its catastrophic judgment from heaven, and America will fare no better in this regard. Judgment Day is near – and is almost here. ]

==========

Report: Child homelessness up 33% in 3 years

One in 45 children in the USA — 1.6 million children — were living on the street, in homeless shelters or motels, or doubled up with other families last year, according to the National Center on Family Homelessness.

The numbers represent a 33% increase from 2007, when there were 1.2 million homeless children, according to a report the center is releasing Tuesday.

“This is an absurdly high number,” says Ellen Bassuk, president of the center. “What we have new in 2010 is the effects of a man-made disaster caused by the economic recession. … We are seeing extreme budget cuts, foreclosures and a lack of affordable housing.”

The report paints a bleaker picture than one by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which nonetheless reported a 28% increase in homeless families, from 131,000 in 2007 to 168,000 in 2010.

Dennis Culhane, a University of Pennsylvania professor of social policy, says HUD’s numbers are much smaller because they count only families living on the street or in emergency shelters.

“It is a narrower standard of homelessness,” he says. However, Culhane says, “the bottom line is we’ve shown an increase in the percentage of homeless families.”

The study, a state-by-state report card, looks at four years’ worth of Education Department data. It assesses how homeless children fare based on factors including the state’s wages, poverty and foreclosure rates, cost of housing and its programs for homeless families.

What in the world has happened to the United States? Once upon a time the U.S. was one of the best places in the world to raise a child, but today it is an absolutely horrible place for children. We physically abuse our children at staggering rates, we pump them full of antidepressants and other pharmaceutical drugs and we send them off to public schools that more closely resemble prison camps every single day. Meanwhile, the economic decline of the America is hitting children far harder than it is hitting the adult population. More than one out of every five children in America is living in poverty and one out of every four children is on food stamps. One of the ways that a society is judged is by how it treats its most vulnerable members. As you will see below, the way that children are treated in America today is absolutely shameful.

The following are 30 signs that America has become a horrible place for children….

#1 There are more than 3 million reports of child abuse in the United States every single year.

#2 There are 314 counties in the United States where at least 30% of the children are facing food insecurity.

#3 In Washington D.C., the “child food insecurity rate” is 32.3%.

#4 If you can believe it, an average of five children die as a result of child abuse in the United States every single day.

#5 In the United States today, it is estimated that one out of every four girls is sexually abused before they become adults.

#6 The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is now publicly advising parents that infants and young children are “sexual beings”.

#7 67 percent of all sexual assault victims in America are children.

#8 The state of Illinois has actually been paying convicted sex offenders to babysit young children.

#9 20 percent of all child sexual abuse victims are under the age of 8.

#10 Children in the United States are three times more likely to be prescribed antidepressants than children in Europe are.

#11 The United States has the highest divorce rate on the globe by a wide margin. This is ripping millions of families with children to shreds.

#12 According to one recent study, approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States were living below the poverty line in 2010. In the UK and in France that figure is well under 10 percent.

#13 It is estimated that up to half a million children may currently be homeless in the United States.

#14 In America today, many families allow the television to raise their children. In fact, the United States is tied with the U.K. for the most hours of television watched per person each week.

#15 Our public schools are being transformed into prison camps. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli has announced that school officials can search the cell phones and laptops of public school students at any time if there are “reasonable grounds for suspecting that the search will turn up evidence that the student has violated or is violating either the law or the rules of the school.”

#16 Today, one out of every four American children is on food stamps.

#17 It is being projected that approximately 50 percent of all U.S. children will be on food stamps at some point in their lives before they reach the age of 18.

#18 More than 20 million U.S. children rely on school meal programs to keep from going hungry.

#19 The U.S. Department of Agriculture is spending huge amounts of money to install surveillance cameras in the cafeterias of public schools so that government control freaks can closely monitor what our children are eating.

#20 According to researchers, convicted rapists in the United States report that two-thirds of their victims were under 18, and among those cases 58% said that their victims were 12 years old or younger.

#21 Since 1973, approximately 50 million babies have been slaughtered in the United States before they were even born.

#22 One out of every four teen girls in the United States now has an STD.

#23 It has been reported that Texas police gave “1,000 tickets” to elementary school kids over one recent six year period.

#24 The number of young children that are being ripped out of good homes by “child protective services” continues to soar.

#25 All over the nation, little children are being publicly arrested by police in their own classrooms and are being marched out of their schools in handcuffs.

#26 Law enforcement officials estimate that about 600,000 Americans and about 65,000 Canadians are trading dirty child pictures online.

#27 All over the United States, lemonade stands run by young children are being shut down by police.

#28 The federal government has spent 14 trillion dollars that belong to our children and our grandchildren. Will future generations thank us for loading such a massive debt on to their backs?

#29 In airports all over the country, many young children are being subjected to “enhanced pat-downs” during which their private parts are touched before they are allowed to get on to their airplanes.

#30 It is estimated that 500,000 babies that will be born this year will be sexually abused before they turn 18.

What in the world has happened to us? America used to be the envy of the rest of the world, but now they look at us like we are a bunch of degenerates.

The Department of Homeland Security wants the public to be on the prowl for suspicious and criminal behavior. They’ve gone to great lengths to recruit business owners in this effort to report unusual activity. They’ve struck deals with Google, Facebook, and Twitter to monitor Internet activities. DHS has also set up fusion centers nationwide to coordinate with local authorities and private sector partners to hunt down potential threats.

Lately, they’ve cranked up their effort to recruit citizen spies through the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign; supported by taxpayer-funded Hollywood-produced commercials encouraging citizens to be vigilant and report their suspicions to authorities. Given their Rated “G” audience, they display almost comical scenarios of being politically correct while spying over someone’s shoulder to read their text messages. Is texting suspicious behavior?

In the recent past, DHS has instructed local authorities to be suspicious of those with Ron Paul bumper stickers, homeschoolers, breastfeeders, and returning veterans. They have instructed business owners, like hotels, to report people who pay in cash, as well as extremist “preppers.” Is paying in cash now suspicious act?

Well, certainly most Americans are capable of catching bigger fish than those pesky nonconformists. Why sell our citizens short? As activists, let’s report the hardcore criminals to DHS when we see something suspicious. Below is a damning list of some of the criminal behavior to report to our protectors. Be warned, from this point forward this article becomes Rated “R” and very politically incorrect by naming high-powered enemy combatants. Someone’s gotta do the DHS’s dirty work.

1. Suspicious activity about 9-11: Something is very suspicious about the official version of the attacks of September 11th, 2001. First, corporate media restricts discussion of the events of 9-11, especially technical aspects like how a 47-story steel skyscraper (WTC Building 7) collapsed into its own footprint without being hit by a plane, steel turning to powder or molten liquid, or destroyed insider trading records of airline put options, among many other anomalies. The idea that investigating these mysteries is in any way harming the 9-11 family members is nonsense. Report the WTC lease holder, Larry Silverstein, to the DHS for pre-wiring WTC 7 for demolition. Report “Tricky” Dick Cheney for standing down when being told a plane was approaching the Pentagon.

2. Bank looting: Somehow, the original bank bailout — TARP in 2008 — of $700 billion (which a large majority of the public opposed) turned into a mass looting of $16 trillion to prop-up failed banking institutions around the world. Somewhere in between was a massive stimulus, QE1, and QE2 that by all indicators only benefited the banksters as well. There has been no official authority given by the people’s representatives for these transactions, yet the bank bailouts were clearly a jailhouse-raping of the American public. The people will suffer higher inflation, higher taxes, lost jobs, and less public benefits as a result. The ring-leading rapists are Ben Bernanke, Tim Geithner, Hank Paulson, Jamie Dimon, Lloyd Blankfein and others, presidents from both sides of the isle and nearly all of Congress. If you feel financially raped by the direct actions of these powerful banksters or their minions, immediately report these crimes to anyone who will listen.

3. Fraudulent foreclosures: The mortgage fraud scandal is indeed the biggest in human history. The involvement of mortgage brokers, ratings agencies, appraisers, robo signers, and every other type of criminality went right up the ladder to banks like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and Bank of America. Some even employed real mafia tactics by breaking into people’s homes. Now banks are scrambling to provide documentation, as it appears that people have been thrown onto the street without proof. 92% of NY foreclosures lacked proper documents, and that is just the tip of the iceberg for the rest of the nation. There should be a real full-scale investigation of the criminals running this operation at the highest levels. Instead, we see a few courageous people taking matters into their own hands, like the Florida couple who foreclosed on Bank of America.

…

6. Illegal wars: Report Barack Obama for war crimes. Normally war crimes involve more than a single individual. However, in the case of Libya, Obama acted alone without even consulting the people’s representatives. Therefore, he and only he is responsible for war crimes against the innocent Libyan people. Obama is guilty of mass murder of innocent civilians and using taxpayer money without the consent of Congress. Additionally, Obama is waging expensive drone wars in other sovereign nations without Congressional approval. Report Obama to all agencies that swear an oath to the Constitution for directing illegal wars that have resulted in mass death.

Gallup: Muslim Americans Give Obama 80 Percent Approval, Highest of Major Religions

Wednesday, August 10, 2011
By Terence P. Jeffrey

(CNSNews.com) — Eighty percent of Muslim Americans approve of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president, according to a newly released survey conducted by the Abu Dhabi Gallup Center, a partnership between Gallup and the Crown Prince Court of Abu Dhabi.

According to the survey, 65 percent of Jewish Americans approve of the job Obama is doing; 60 percent of atheists, agnostics, and those of no religion approve; 50 percent of Catholics approve; 37 percent of Protestants approve and 25 percent of Mormons approve.

Although published this month, the survey of Muslim Americans was actually completed on April 9. (In Gallup’s overall polling in the week that ended April 10, Obama’s approval was at 45 percent, slightly higher than the 42 percent it hit last week.)

Obama’s approval among Muslim Americans has declined since 2009 but still remains far higher than the approval President George W. Bush’s won among Muslim Americans in 2008. In that year, only 7 percent of Muslim Americans said they approved of the job Bush was doing.

In 2009, 84 percent of Muslim Americans said they approved of the job Obama was doing. That dropped to 78 percent in 2010 and then rose to 80 percent this year.

The Abu Dhabi Gallup Center says it interviewed 3,883 self-identified Muslim Americans between Jan. 1, 2008 and April 9, 2011 to get its polling trends in that community. The interviews were part of Gallup’s ongoing polling of at least 1,000 American adults 350 days per year.

Bobb told to consolidate services, close half of schools to end deficit
by Jennifer Chambers / The Detroit News

Lansing— Swift and severe changes are coming to Detroit Public Schools.

State education officials have ordered Robert Bobb to immediately implement a financial restructuring plan that balances the district’s books by closing half of its schools, swelling high school class sizes to 60 students and consolidating operations.

This week, Bobb, the district’s emergency financial manager, said he is meeting with Detroit city officials and will set up a meeting with Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency to discuss consolidation opportunities in areas such as finance, public safety, transportation and other areas.

Bobb also is preparing a list of recommended school closures and Friday said layoff discussions are under way and would be announced closer to April, when notices would be issued. “We are moving forward with the plan,” he said “Right now my focus is on my transition plan and the DEP (deficit elimination plan).”

Bobb’s last day with DPS is June 30. After that, the state plans to install another financial manager who must continue to implement Bobb’s plan, according to a Feb. 8 letter from Mike Flanagan, the state superintendent of public instruction.

In the letter, Flanagan said the Michigan Department of Education gave preliminary approval to Bobb’s plan to bring the 74,000-student district out of its financial emergency. As a condition of approval, Flanagan said Bobb cannot declare the district in bankruptcy during the remainder of his contract.

Bobb, appointed emergency financial manager in March 2009, filed his deficit elimination plan with the state in January, saying it would wipe out the district’s $327 million deficit by 2014. On Feb. 9, he told state lawmakers the plan is the only way DPS “can cut its way out” of its legacy deficit.

At the same time, Bobb said he doesn’t believe the proposal is viable because it would drive more students away, exacerbating the district’s financial emergency. But on Friday, Bobb confirmed he is working to implement the plan that will shrink the district to 72 schools for a projected 58,570 students in 2014.

[ Most of the junk sold at places like Walmart comes from slave labor in China... It's shoddy merchandise and it hurts people both in China and in other parts of the world. As the article below proves, Walmart hurts people wherever it goes... ]

========

New York’s Public Advocate, Bill de Blasio, recently released a very important study about Wal-Mart’s effects on local communities. It represents a major step forward in the understanding of the effects of Big Business.

The Di Blasio Report

The main conclusions are shocking, to the point, and make clear what damage Wal-Mart actually managed to do to the American economy. The fundamental conclusions are these:

Wal-Mart store openings kill three local jobs for every two they create. Wal-Mart is the biggest employer in the USA, with 1.4 million ‘associates’. The conclusion is that Wal-Mart alone has killed about 700,000 American jobs. Only Wall Street can boast greater destruction to the American labor market.

Chain stores, like Wal-Mart, send most of their revenues out of the community, while local businesses keep more consumer dollars in the local economy: for every $100 spent in locally owned businesses, $68 stayed in the local economy, while chain stores only left $43 to re-circulate locally. This means Big Business has a deflationary effect on local economies. And this in turn explains why Big Business destroys both employment and business. These two conclusions are more than sufficient to make the study worth while, but I’ll give a few more just to further the point.

Stores near a new Wal-Mart are at increased risk of going out of business. After a single Wal-Mart opened in Chicago in September 2006, 82 of the 306 small businesses in the surrounding neighborhood had gone out of business by March 2008.

Wal-Mart’s average annual pay is $20,774, which is below the Federal Poverty Level for a family of four. In fact: a Wal-Mart ‘spokesperson’ publicly acknowledged in 2004 that ‘More than two thirds of our people . . . are not trying to support a family. That’s who our jobs are designed for.’ So, Wal-Mart is an effective accomplice in the social engineering campaign of our bosses, isolating people and consciously attacking the family unit. The above makes abundantly clear that Wal-Mart and Big Business in general have a profoundly negative impact on economies, both locally and nationally.

So why do people shop at major Retail Chains?

Of course it is useful to have the figures. But then again; we already knew this. We know Big Business is just destroying small- and medium-sized businesses and we also know that these smaller businesses are the backbone of our economy.

Sure, these stores offer a certain convenience, usually having a larger assortment of goods. Why go to four shops if you can get everything at one? We don’t have the time! But we don’t have the time because we need three jobs to maintain the illusion of a middle-class status. And we need these jobs because we are accomplices in the plundering of our communities and neighbors.

And of course Big Business is often cheaper. At least until they have destroyed the local competition, after which they start their monopoly pricing operation.

So we make decisions that damage our neighbors, favor ourselves in the short term, but eventually make us and our kids go begging for a $20,774 per year job.

Are we just stupid? Yes, we are; we know we are. But there is also the ‘prisoner’s dilemma’.

The prisoner’s dilemma is a fundamental problem in game theory that demonstrates why two people might not cooperate even if it is in both their best interests to do so. It was originally framed by Merrill Flood and Melvin Dresher working at RAND in 1950. Albert W. Tucker formalized the game with prison sentence payoffs and gave it the ‘prisoner’s dilemma’ name (Poundstone, 1992).

A classic example of the prisoner’s dilemma (PD) is presented as follows:

Two suspects are arrested by the police. The police have insufficient evidence for a conviction, and, having separated the prisoners, visit each of them to offer the same deal. If one testifies for the prosecution against the other (defects) and the other remains silent (cooperates), the defector goes free and the silent accomplice receives the full 10-year sentence. If both remain silent, both prisoners are sentenced to only six months in jail for a minor charge. If each betrays the other, each receives a five-year sentence. Each prisoner must choose to betray the other or to remain silent. Each one is assured that the other would not know about the betrayal before the end of the investigation. How should the prisoners act?

The problem is, that most people don’t trust their peers to do the right thing and therefore they just take the short-term gain themselves. This is a major trump in the hands of Big Business and basically explains why they are so successful in enslaving us. It is interesting that this behavior is defined as ‘rational’ in economic game theory.

If the pupils here learn one thing, it’s that their every move is being watched.

And parents have said that since this secondary school put up an astonishing 112 security cameras, it felt more like sending their children to a high-security prison.

Governors at Stoke Park School and Community Technology College in Coventry spent £10,000 installing the CCTV – which gives it an average of one camera for every ten students.

They say the cameras – 33 outside and 79 inside the buildings – are to combat a spate of break-ins and thefts.

But some parents and civil rights groups believe the move is ‘totally over the top’ and are demanding the devices are taken down.

Parents and civil rights groups say the cameras at the school are ‘totally over the top’ and are demanding they be taken down

Father-of-two Dan Austin, 40, said: ‘It’s ridiculous to have so many cameras and totally unnecessary. All parents want their children to be safe at school but this is over the top. It’s like sending your kids to a high-security prison.

‘I don’t like the idea that children are being monitored so closely – it instills a dangerous lesson that no one is trustworthy.’

200GB to 25GB: Canada gets first, bitter dose of metered Internet

By Matthew Lasar

Metered Internet usage (also called “Usage-Based Billing”) is coming to Canada, and it’s going to cost Internet users. While an advance guard of Canadians are expressing creative outrage at the prospect of having to pay inflated prices for Internet use charged by the gigabyte, the consequences probably haven’t set in for most consumers. Now, however, independent Canadian ISPs are publishing their revised data plans, and they aren’t pretty.

“Like our customers, and Canadian internet users everywhere, we are not happy with this new development,” wrote the Ontario-based indie ISP TekSavvy in a recent e-mail message to its subscribers.

But like it or not, the Canadian Radio-Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approved UBB for the incumbent carrier Bell Canada in September. Competitive ISPs, which connect to Canada’s top telco for last-mile copper connections to customers, will also be metered by Bell. Even though the CRTC gave these ISPs a 15 percent discount this month (TekSavvy asked for 50 percent), it’s still going to mean a real adjustment for consumers.
This is going to hurt

Starting on March 1, Ontario TekSavvy members who subscribed to the 5Mbps plan have a new usage cap of 25GB, “substantially down from the 200GB or unlimited deals TekSavvy was able to offer before the CRTC’s decision to impose usage based billing,” the message added.

By way of comparison, Comcast here in the United States has a 250GB data cap. Looks like lots of Canadians can kiss that kind of high ceiling goodbye. And going over will cost you: according to TekSavvy, the CRTC put data overage rates at CAN $1.90 per gigabyte for most of Canada, and $2.35 for the country’s French-speaking region.

Bottom line: no more unlimited buffet. TekSavvy users who bought the “High Speed Internet Premium” plan at $31.95 now get 175GB less per month.

Obama’s State of the Union Was Tantamount to Plagiarism

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, what can be said of plagiarism? President Obama’s second State of the Union address contained enough recycled ideas and lines lifted from speeches of others to make historians wince.

I suppose this is what one does when one not only has nothing new to say, but is required by custom and Constitution to come forth with a report of some kind by a certain time and day. Had Obama or his writers been considerate enough to have informed listeners of where some of the president’s best lines and offered-up ideas originated, the speech might be remembered for its cutting and pasting of great and not-so-great moments of the past performance of others.

After quoting Robert Kennedy early on, Obama tried to have his listeners believe that everything else he said that we might remember were his or his writers’ creations. Had the president submitted the text of his second State of the Union Address in the form of a college term paper, he would have been sent forthwith to the nearest academic dean. Once again, our public affairs are such that we have one standard for presidents and another for undergraduates.

Obama’s new battlefield? President defends abortion as a right… as lawmakers get set to roll those rights back

By Daily Mail Reporter

President Barack Obama has labelled abortion a ‘right’, setting the grounds for a new battle with lawmakers determined to roll those rights back.

The President marked the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision on abortion by calling the procedure a constitutional right he’s committed to protecting.

But he spoke against a rising tide of anti-abortion activists who sense the time is right for a new push to rein in the broad access to abortions established by the 1973 Roe v Wade decision.

Buoyed by huge election gains for their allies, anti-abortion activists in America head into their annual March for Life rallies on Monday sensing a prime opportunity in many states.

Foes of abortion gained strength in Congress, among state governors and in many state legislatures, raising hopes among social conservatives for a broad surge of anti-abortion bills.

Mr Obama’s comments today squared him off against them.

He called on Americans to recommit themselves to ensuring that ‘our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams’.

The President said the 1973 Roe v Wade decision that legalised abortion affirmed what he called a ‘fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters’.

Many others disagree.

‘We are seeing a cultural shift toward protecting life and rolling back the tide of unrestricted abortions,’ said Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life.

A doctor who gave abortions to minorities, immigrants and poor women in a “house of horrors” clinic was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to inspect his clinic since 1993, but no charges were warranted against them given time limits and existing law, District Attorney Seth Williams said. Nine of Gosnell’s employees also were charged.

Gosnell “induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord,” Williams said.

Patients were subjected to squalid and barbaric conditions at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society, where Gosnell performed dozens of abortions a day, prosecutors said. He mostly worked overnight hours after his untrained staff administered drugs to induce labor during the day, they said.

Early last year, authorities went to investigate drug-related complaints at the clinic and stumbled on what Williams called a “house of horrors.” Bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses “were scattered throughout the building,” Williams said. “There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose.”

The clinic was shut down and Gosnell’s medical license was suspended after the raid.

Gosnell and four workers were charged with murder, while five others were charged with controlled drug violations and other crimes. None of the employees had any medical training, and one, a high school student, performed intravenous anesthesia with potentially lethal narcotics, Williams said.
