The word chanukah (חֲנֻכָּה) means “dedication,” a word that shares the same root as the Hebrew the word chinukh (חִנּוּךְ), meaning “education.” Just as the Maccabees fought and died for the sake of Torah truth, so we must wage war within ourselves and break the stronghold of apathy and indifference that the present world system engenders (Rom. 12:2; Eph. 6:11-18). We must take time to educate ourselves by studying the Torah and New Testament, for by so doing we will be rededicated to the service of the truth and enabled to resist assimilation into the corrupt world. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world…” (1 John 2:15).

During this time of year — and especially during this dark hour of history near the prophesied “end of days” — it is imperative to remember that we are in the midst of the great “war of the ages,” where people’s souls and destinies are at stake… This world is likened to the “Valley of Decision,” the corridor to the world to come… We cannot afford to be indifferent to the darkness that continues to blind the eyes of so many people. We must take a stand for God’s truth and be fully equipped to give an account for the hope we have in Yeshua. Ultimately the “cleansing of the Temple” is a matter of the heart….

More — if you search for it…

Christians, Jews banned from Temple Mount in Jerusalem
‘It seems freedom of religion in Israel is only for Muslims’

By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – The Israeli government is currently banning all non-Muslims from ascending the Temple Mount, considered the holiest site in Judaism.

“It seems freedom of religion in Israel is only for Muslims and not for Christians and Jews,” Danny Danon, deputy speaker of the Knesset, told WND, referring to the new restrictions.

Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmulik Ben Ruby confirmed to WND that Jews and Christians are restricted from entering the Temple Mount due to safety concerns over the main access gate for non-Muslims, known as the Mughrabi Bridge.

Yesterday, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat officially ordered the bridge to be indefinitely closed due to petitions from the city’s Antiquities Authority citing fears the weakened wooden structure may collapse or catch fire.

There are 15 gates leading into the Temple Mount compound, 10 of which are in use, but for Muslims only.

The Mughrabi Gate, located at the Western Wall plaza, is the only access for non-Muslims to enter the site, meaning its closure now prevents Jews, Christians and any tourists from visiting until a replacement structure is built.

Ben Ruby said there are no immediate plans for any of the 10 entrances to the Mount to be opened for non-Muslims, citing security concerns.

A replacement bridge could take several months to build. Arab countries are already warning any construction in the sensitive area could lead to violence, claiming the Jewish state is using the bridge renovation to threaten the al-Aqsa Mosque, located on the mount.

Many of you know that I have long believed the US government has abandoned its constitutional foundation, especially since the turn of the last century. The “glyph” of 9/11 now functions as a symbol to justify an oppressive police state that wages war around the world on behalf of globalist interests and the “military industrial complex.” Part of this process of never-ending war involves “deconstructing” the very idea of the USA and its “exceptionalism,” which explains why it is nearly a crime in this country to demonstrate any form of patriotic sentiment, such as displaying an American flag, exercising civil liberties once enshrined in the Bill of Rights, etc. The propaganda of “world government” has accelerated at an alarming rate in the last decade, almost in direct correlation with the level of malaise, despair, and anger evidenced among many American citizens. Consider the debt scandals and outright lies by globalist bankers who have quite literally extorted and robbed this nation of its wealth and resources… It is my conviction that various national calamities that have befallen the US over the last decade are a direct result of abandoning our Judeo-Christian heritage. The recent earthquake that affected Washington DC on Tuesday (Aug. 23, 2011) is further evidence that God is attempting to get our attention….

======

How the quake affected U.S. landmarks

Washington (CNN) — The earthquake that struck the eastern United States on Tuesday affected some major sites and landmarks. Here is a look at the latest developments:

– The U.S. Capitol was cleared for employees to come back to get their belongings, but inspectors asked people to limit their time inside the building while engineers continue to work around the complex.

– A secondary inspection of the Washington Monument revealed some cracking in the stones at the top of the monument, the National Park Service said. Structural engineers will evaluated the cracks on Wednesday to determine the best way to repair the 126-year-old obelisk before it is reopened. The monument grounds have been reopened except for an area about 100 feet outside of the plaza.

– The National Park Service said it reopened the Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial at 7:20 p.m. The Old Post Office Tower will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

– The National Cathedral will be closed to the public Wednesday after three of the four corner spires on its central tower cracked and fell onto the roof. “Engineers report that the building itself did not incur any damage to its structural integrity,” the church said in a news release Tuesday.

– The Smithsonian Institution Building in Washington has cracks in the interior walls because of the earthquake, but there’s no indication of structural damage at this point, Smithsonian Secretary Wayne Clough said. The building will still need to be evaluated, he said.

– All Smithsonian museums shut down for the day, the institution said.

– The White House and adjacent buildings evacuated as a precaution following the earthquake were given the all-clear, the U.S. Secret Service said. The FBI and Justice Department have also reopened evacuated buildings.

– Some personnel were evacuated from the Department of Homeland Security facility in northwest Washington, but the national operations center remained functional, a homeland security official said.

– Terminal A at Washington Reagan National Airport was evacuated because of an odor of gas, airport spokeswoman Courtney Mickalonis said. Initial sweeps of the building showed no major damage from the earthquake.

– At the new Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial, which has a dedication scheduled for Sunday, “all is good,” an organizer said. “We’re performing the required safety checks and procedures, and Park Service has been on site with us monitoring (the) situation.”

Along with the King Memorial, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt, World War II, Vietnam Veterans and Korean War
memorials all remain open.

– In New York City, there were “no reports of significant damage,” said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. “Shortly before 2 p.m., we evacuated City Hall briefly, but quickly returned to work,” he said in a statement.

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Israel is the only country that has guaranteed freedom of all faiths in Jerusalem, which must remain undivided, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told Congress Tuesday. In unusually strong language, he told members of Congress that Judea and Samaria are part of the ancient Jewish homeland that our forefathers walked in and that the 650,000 Jews living there “are not ‘occupying’ the region.” He strongly criticized the changed versions of history that are being promoted by others.

…

The Prime Minister expressed his policies in down-to-earth and homey language that clearly enthused the legislators. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden was on the podium to receive him. U.S. President Barack Obama was on his way back to the United States from a visit to Ireland.

He jokingly noted that Israel is larger than the Delaware, Biden’s home state, and larger than Rhode Island, “but that’s about it.”

Prime Minister Netanyahu remarked that the entire length of the Washington Beltway is larger than the width of the Israel that the Palestinian Authority demands, which would be 9 km. wide, hardly “strategic depth”…

“Imagine a siren sounding and giving you 60 seconds to find shelter before a missile strikes. You couldn’t live with that. No one can live with that, ” he said emphatically.

Israel shocked by Obama’s “betrayal” of Mubarak

(Reuters) – If Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak is toppled, Israel will lose one of its very few friends in a hostile neighborhood and President Barack Obama will bear a large share of the blame, Israeli pundits said on Monday.

Political commentators expressed shock at how the United States as well as its major European allies appeared to be ready to dump a staunch strategic ally of three decades, simply to conform to the current ideology of political correctness.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told ministers of the Jewish state to make no comment on the political cliffhanger in Cairo, to avoid inflaming an already explosive situation. But Israel’s President Shimon Peres is not a minister.

“We always have had and still have great respect for President Mubarak,” he said on Monday. He then switched to the past tense. “I don’t say everything that he did was right, but he did one thing which all of us are thankful to him for: he kept the peace in the Middle East.”

Newspaper columnists were far more blunt.

One comment by Aviad Pohoryles in the daily Maariv was entitled “A Bullet in the Back from Uncle Sam.” It accused Obama and his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of pursuing a naive, smug, and insular diplomacy heedless of the risks.

Who is advising them, he asked, “to fuel the mob raging in the streets of Egypt and to demand the head of the person who five minutes ago was the bold ally of the president … an almost lone voice of sanity in a Middle East?”

“The politically correct diplomacy of American presidents throughout the generations … is painfully naive.”

Obama on Sunday called for an “orderly transition” to democracy in Egypt, stopping short of calling on Mubarak to step down, but signaling that his days may be numbered.

Israel fears radical takeover in Egypt

Extremist takeover in Egypt would put Israel in ‘wholly different position,’ security official warns

A fundamental change of government in Egypt may lead to a “revolution in Israel’s security doctrine,” a defense official told Ynet Friday night, as protests against President Hosni Mubarak’s rule continued to intensify.

“It is no secret that the IDF focuses on certain theaters and earmarks most resources to them,” the official said. “The Egyptians are only addressed on the margins. We are holding discussions, including updates relevant to recent years, yet without a doubt Egypt is not considered a theater that requires attention.”

Should a revolution indeed take place in Egypt, the rules of play will not necessarily change at once, the source added. “It won’t mean, heaven forbid, that Egypt would immediately turn into an enemy country, yet our attention would most certainly have to shift.”

The security official made it clear that Israel’s peace treaty with Egypt constitutes an important strategic asset, “which enables the IDF to focus on other theaters.” The defense source said that the IDF would have to dedicate major resources in order to devote any attention to the Egyptian front as well.

The United Nations Human Rights Council this month adopted nine resolutions against Israel. The United States opposed nothing.

The Council, engaged in a “universal periodic review” of human rights protection in Lebanon, was examining a report by that country which expressed its objections to “the establishment of the Zionist entity on Palestinian territory.”

Every United Nations member state was asked to submit a report to the Council on its national human rights record, which was then reviewed by U.N. members who engage in a short dialogue with the state representatives.

After Lebanon submitted its report objecting to the creation of the State of Israel, Israel’s representative responded, “My delegation would like to state on record our strong objection to the inappropriate and abusive language used to reference the State of Israel. Unfortunately, the existence of a dominant terrorist organization, Hizbullah, as well as political tensions and struggles between different vital groups …”

Israel’s presentation then was rudely interrupted by the Council president, the delegate from Thailand, who broke in to summarily recognize the delegation of Lebanon.

“If there were no Israeli occupation there would have been no resistance and resistance of peoples against foreign occupation is a legitimate right. Thank you,” the Lebanese delegate stated firmly, to a hall which broke into applause.

The Council president followed up, “I appreciate the concern expressed by the Lebanese delegation.”

Other UNHRC members responded with a verbal assault against the Israeli diplomat, which was also not stopped by the Obama administration representative.

“There is no other terrorism on the surface of the planet like the terrorism committed by Israel,” claimed the Syrian delegate. “This entity was established on the basis of terrorism.”

Another comment by Syria: “Israel… threatens to use nuclear weapons.”

And still another: “Lebanese resistance is not terrorism.”

Likewise the Lebanese representative, who claimed, “Hizbullah was only a resistance movement that had the honor to resist the occupation.”

Israeli Jews at odds with liberal Judaism in U.S.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Many American Jews — whose faith is seen by the ultra-Orthodox as blurred by intermarriage and fading adherence to tradition — are feeling rejected and unwelcome in Israel.

When Hillary Rubin immigrated from the U.S. to Israel, the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors and descendant of a famed Zionist visionary felt that she had finally arrived in her true home.

But now that religious authorities are questioning the 29-year-old Michigan native’s Jewish pedigree and refusing to recognize her marriage, she’s having second thoughts.

Rubin is at the center of a deepening rift between the world’s two biggest Jewish communities — the American and Israeli. Religious life in Israel is dominated by the strict ultra-Orthodox establishment, which has growing political power and has become increasingly resistant to any inroads by the more liberal movements that predominate among American Jews.

“I feel like I am caught in the middle of these two worlds,” said Rubin, who was raised in a liberal Jewish home in a Detroit suburb. “On the one hand I’m far too traditional for American society. On the flip side, I am not religious enough for the rabbinate in Israel.”

It’s a far cry from the days when American Jews looked to Israel as a source of pride and inspiration and Israel could rely on America’s Jews as a source of unconditional moral support and fundraising. With ultra-Orthodox Jews the fastest growing sector in Israel, often holding the balance of power in coalition governments, open strains between the communities are now far more common.

Over the summer, a proposed law that would have consecrated the Orthodox monopoly over conversion in Israel caused an uproar among Diaspora Jews. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was forced to shelve the bill in hopes of finding a compromise.

Last week, American and Israeli Jewish leaders held a conference in Jerusalem aiming at ironing out their differences. But the closed-door sessions were tense and all sides stuck to their positions, said one participant, American Rabbi Jerome Epstein, of the Conservative movement.

He warned that the conflict could “tear the people apart” if no compromise is found.

Catholic cleric: Christ nullified God’s promises to the Jews

A Catholic synod called at the Vatican to address the rising persecution of Christian in the Middle East wrapped up on Saturday with a joint statement that focused a lot of attention on demanding Israel end its “occupation” of Arab lands.

The gathering was meant to address the various acts of persecution, intimidation and discrimination that are resulting in a severe dwindling of Christian communities across the region.

But the bulk of the two-week meeting was spent discussing how Israel is the root cause of all the Middle East’s woes, including those faced by its Christians.

The final statement reflected that position. It listed the “occupation” of Arab lands, the building of Israel’s security barrier, military checkpoints, the jailing of terrorists (defined in the statement as “political prisoners”) and the general disruption of Palestinian life as some of the main reasons behind the exodus of Palestinian Christians and Muslim attacks on the Jewish state.

Cyril Salim Bustros, the Lebanon-born Greek archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts was responsible for delivering the final statement.

In clarifying remarks, he stated that “the Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands.”

He then escalated the situation by declaring that the original promises made by God to the children of Israel “were nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people.”

Bustros rejected the idea of Israel as “the Jewish state,” and insisted that eventually all the so-called “Palestinian refugees” must return to the land, a sure recipe for the demographic destruction of the world’s only Jewish nation-state.

Mordechai Levi, Israel’s ambassador to the Vatican, decried Bustros’ comments and the damage they had done to strengthening ties between Israel and the Church.

A Vatican spokesman later stated that the Church’s official position is the synod’s declaration, and not Mr. Bustros’ explanatory remarks. However, he did not outright reject what Mr. Bustros said, even though it would appear to contradict more recent Vatican declarations that God’s promises to the Jews remain intact.

It should be noted that the synod declaration, in its section addressed to the Jews, insisted that “recourse to…biblical positions which use the Word of God to wrongly justify injustices is not acceptable.”

The only thing Israel and its supporters use the Bible to justify in this case is the Jews’ right to the land, including Judea and Samaria. If the Vatican is now saying that the Bible and the divine promises therein no longer give the Jews claim to the land, as Mr. Bustros tried to clarify, then for many the Vatican’s commitment to its earlier declaration regarding the Jews and God’s promises to them remains at least partially in question.

By Aaron Klein

JERUSALEM – Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “shaking from fear” about the policies that President Obama will enact toward Israel after this week’s midterm elections, a senior Palestinian Authority official told WND.

The PA official, as well as security sources in Egypt and Jordan, said they heard from the Obama administration an outline of a series of moves to pressure Israel after the Nov. 2 vote.

Among the moves would be holding back support for Israel when it comes to future resolutions condemning the Jewish state at the United Nations.

Also, the U.S. is likely to tacitly back a Palestinian threat to unilaterally declare a state at the U.N. Security Council if Netanyahu fails to reach an agreement with the PA.

The sources said the Obama administration has already quietly dropped U.S. opposition to PA President Mahmoud Abbas forging a unity deal with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Until now, the U.S. has publicly taken a policy of isolating Hamas, a terrorist organization, although there have been recent signs of U.S. rapprochement toward the Islamic group. Netanyahu had argued Hamas stood in the way of a pan-Palestinian future settlement.

The PA and Middle East sources said that Obama is joining a chorus of European Union officials in demanding that Israel evacuate almost the entire West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem in a future deal with the Palestinians.

Netanyahu wants to keep what are known as the main settlement blocks – Ariel, Gush Etzion and Maale Adumin, a position mostly supported by the U.S. government. Now there are signs the Obama administration will call for Israel to evacuate the large town of Ariel in any settlement with the Palestinians, the sources told WND.

Last week, WND quoted a PA official stating that White House officials told the Palestinians that President Obama is waiting until after the Nov. 2 midterm elections to press Israel harder for a deal to create a Palestinian state.

An extensive poll released earlier this month showed a growing number of Americans support Israel over the Palestinians and will vote for political candidates based on their stance regarding the Jewish state.

By EDWARD KLEIN WITH RICHARD Z. CHESNOFF

In the nearly 80 years since president Franklin D. Roosevelt launched the New Deal with a pledge to “help the forgotten man,” relations between American Jews and the Democratic Party have been as close as lips and teeth. Even as Jews prospered and assimilated into the mainstream of American life, most of them remained loyal to FDR’s liberal vision and refrained from following the pattern of other affluent groups by shifting to the Republican Party. Over the course of the past 20 elections, a stunning 75 percent of the Jewish vote has on average gone to the Democratic presidential candidate. As the old saying goes: “Jews earn like Episcopalians and vote like Puerto Ricans.”

If further proof of this were needed, it was provided by the 2008 election of Barack Obama. On a key issue for many Jewish voters – support for Israel – the hawkish John McCain started off with a decisive advantage over Obama, whose past associations with the anti- Semitic Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the Israel-bashing Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi raised troubling questions in the minds of many Jews. And yet, when the vote was tallied, Obama trounced McCain among Jews by a staggering 57 point margin.

“After decades of involvement in the civil rights movement by American Jews, Obama stirred deep emotions in the Jewish community,” Bret Stephens, the deputy editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal, told me. “The black-Jewish alliance was shattered in the late 1960s, and Jews have yearned ever since to restore it. Jews felt good about voting for Obama, for not only were they voting for a guy they agreed with and liked, but they were also voting for their own personal redemption.”

All this should provide comfort to President Obama as his party heads into the fall’s hotly contested midterm elections and fights to hold onto its majorities in the House and Senate. Faced with public frustration over the flailing economy, high unemployment, massive federal deficits, out-of-control illegal immigration and the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, Democratic candidates need all the help they can get from their friends. And although Jews represent a mere 4% of the American electorate, their political activism and fund-raising prowess give them leverage in important battleground states.

There’s only one hitch. Today, a sizable number of American Jews are having a serious case of buyer’s remorse when it comes to Obama. Recent polls of the Jewish community reflect a significant decline in support from 2008, when 78% of Jewish voters pulled the lever for Obama. According to a recent McLaughlin & Associates poll, a plurality of Jewish voters would now consider voting for someone else for president.

These poll numbers do not begin to measure the depth of displeasure felt by many Jews over Obama’s performance. Their bill of particulars covers a wide variety of complaints, including the president’s frosty behavior toward businessmen in general and Wall Street in particular. But what really appears to irritate American Jews is the president’s roughhouse treatment of Israel.

Obama has recently backed off from some of his public assaults on Israel, but he is still in trouble with large segments of the Jewish community. Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, the coordinating body for 52 Jewish groups, estimates that Obama may have lost the support of as much as one-third of Jewish voters. That may overstate the case, but as I discovered during interviews with more than a dozen Jewish leaders over the past several months, many Jews have become so annoyed with the Obama administration that they have closed their wallets and are seriously thinking of sitting out the 2010 election. According to an analysis of Federal Election Commission records by The Washington Post, contributions to Democratic candidates from the financial sector, where Jews hold important positions, are down 65% from two years ago.

“I started breaking with Obama 10 months ago,” says Martin Peretz, editor in chief of The New Republic. “And I know that a lot of West Coast Jews are also having buyer’s remorse. The gut of it is Israel. Will Jews mobilize for Obama in the fall elections? They might be too embarrassed to come out directly against him. But I’ll give you one sign of the times: Chuck Schumer [New York’s senior senator] waited a year and a half before he stood up for Israel, and he’s been having trouble raising money on Wall Street.”

“The assumption on the part of the Obama administration is that because Jews are liberals, they simply will not vote for Republicans,” says Hollywood billionaire Haim Saban, one of the Democratic Party’s mega-donors. “Obama can invite the 10 most prolific Jewish campaign bundlers to the White House for a discussion, and give a wonderful speech, and he’ll think that this may resolve all his problems with American Jews. And it may – or it may not.”

“The idea that we saw a black president in our lifetime is wonderful,” says New York City’s former mayor, Ed Koch. “It conveyed to us that this country has come such a long way. But I never fully accepted that Obama didn’t hear his minister [Jeremiah Wright] make those awful anti-Semitic statements over 20 years. I wanted to believe him. I willed myself to believe him… What he has done is break that trust. Like Humpty Dumpty, once you break it, you can’t put it together again.”

THE CURRENT Jewish problem with Obama can be traced back to his first full day on the job. On January 21, 2009, he summoned his national security team to the Oval Office and laid out a tough new policy toward Israel. According to my sources, Obama said that to make good on his campaign promise to extricate 200,000 American troops from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the US had to create a grand coalition of “moderate” Muslim states and Israel to isolate Iran, which has made no secret of its ambition to become the nuclear hegemon in the Middle East.

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz called Monday for a naval blockade of Iran within two to six months, saying sanctions have failed to convince the Islamic republic to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

“We’ll need more than talk and sanctions,” Steinitz told a meeting here of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. “It’s high time the West and the United States gave Iran a deadline to change its behavior. … We need a clear deadline for Iran to become open for inspection otherwise the ramifications should be like you did with Cuba in 1962. It kept the U.S. from going to war. It’s time for clear messages and deadlines.”

His comments come at a time when Iran has acknowledged that computers at its Bushehr nuclear power station were hit by a computer virus. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reportedly vowed a military response.

An adviser to the Kuwaiti government on Iran, Sami Alfaraj, has raised the possibility that Iran might unleash a dirty bomb on the West. Such a device consists of a conventional explosive that is used to spray radioactive material over a wide area. It is designed to frighten and requires those exposed to be decontaminated; buildings and land in the blast zone would be unusable for long periods of time.

“I would not be surprised if this regime lashed out at its adversaries regionally and internationally by doing something as barbaric and irresponsible [as detonating a dirty bomb] — and it would do it in the coming year,” said Alfaraj, founder and president of the Kuwait Center for Strategic Studies.

In an interview with The Jewish Week here before news of the computer virus was reported, Alfaraj said: “The more the Iranian regime finds itself under a tight noose with sanctions,” the sooner it will act.

“I don’t think Iran will sit still and wait for its adversaries to take action against it,” he explained. “It has always taken the initiative except in the Iraq-Iran War when it was attacked in 1980 by [Saddam] Hussein. Since then it has sworn [not to let that happen again]. … Iran has enough material for a dirty bomb without creating a full-fledged nuclear device. And it could give it to its proxies [Hamas and Hezbollah] for use in any cities in the world.”

George Schwartz was born in Hungary in 1930 — not the luckiest time and place to be born a Jew.

George’s father Theodore tried to change the family’s fortunes by changing their name to something less Jewish-sounding. It didn’t help. And soon war came.

When the Nazis took total control of Hungary in 1944, the Holocaust followed. In two months, 440,000 Hungarian Jews were deported to death camps.

To survive, George, then a teenager, collaborated with the Nazis.

First he worked for the Judenrat. That was the Jewish council set up by the Nazis to do their dirty work for them. Instead of the Nazis rounding up Jews every day for the trains, they delegated that murderous task to Jews who were willing to do it to survive another day at the expense of their neighbours.

Theodore hatched a better plan for his son. He bribed a non-Jewish official at the agriculture ministry to let George live with him. George helped the official confiscate property from Jews.

By collaborating with the Nazis, George survived the Holocaust. He turned on other Jews to spare himself.

George moved to London after the war and then to New York, where he became a stockbroker. He’s rich now. Forbes magazine says he’s the 35th richest man in the world. Maybe you’ve heard of him. He goes by the name his father invented: George Soros.

How does Soros feel about what he did as a teenager? Has it kept him up at night?

Steve Kroft of 60 Minutes asked him that. Was it difficult? “Not at all,” Soros answered.

“No feeling of guilt?” asked Kroft. “No,” said Soros. “There was no sense that I shouldn’t be there. If I wasn’t doing it, somebody else would be taking it away anyhow. Whether I was there or not. So I had no sense of guilt.”

A Nazi would steal the Jews’ property anyways. So why not him?

That moral hollowness has shaped Soros’ life. He’s a rabid critic of capitalism, but in 1992 when he saw a chance, he speculated against the British pound, causing it to crash, devastating retirement savings for millions of Britons. Soros pocketed $1.1 billion for himself. If he didn’t do it, someone else would, right?

In 2002, Soros was convicted of insider trading in France, and fined millions of dollars. He admitted buying the shares, but denied it was a crime.

Last year, when he made $3.3 billion off the banking collapse, he called the world’s financial crisis “the culmination of my life’s work.”

This is a man who boasted he offered to help his mother commit suicide. Apparently he didn’t see enough death in Hungary.

Soros is a sociopath. But he’s a sociopath with $14 billion, and he likes to spend it on politics.
