So where are you going to draw the line? Is a zygot a human being? A fetus? A fetus at the point of viability? A live-born baby? A child at 8 months old out of the womb? Arbitrarily picking a line at the time of birth is absurd and incoherent.

Fla. doctor investigated in badly botched abortion

(AP) Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.
Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.
Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

The anti-abortionist don’t get it! I do not subscribe to the notion that “life” begins at conception. Cogito ergo sum. THAT is the basis of life. The “spirit” is unprovable.
“Cogito ergo sum”? Then on your view, people in a coma, the elderly who have Alzheimer’s or another form of brain degeneration, babies who are precognitive, children who cannot yet think abstractly, etc. etc. are all “subhuman” or not “alive”? Your criteria for what constitutes “life” is based on tenuous reasoning, since the minute you fall asleep tonight, you’d be considered “unalive” by your own standards….
