Who knew? According to a recent article provided by the New York Post (Happy Days Here Again, by By Chris Michaud), nearly everyone is happy! That’s right – in a room full of 100 random Americans, 94 of them will report being “happy” and “satisfied with their lives.”

Great news! The United States, the modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, whose flag now waves over the ancient land of Babylon, is full of “happy” people!
At the risk of sounding a bit misanthropic, I would suggest that the words “happy”and “well-satisfied” used in this report with might be “code” for the following litany of words: “conscience-less,” “numb,” “impassive,” “unfeeling,” “insensate,” “feckless,” “dissipated,” “well-fed,” “titlillated,” “brainwashed,” “indoctrinated,” “mesmerized,” “hypnotized,” ”robotic,” “Pavlovian,” “stupefied,” “chemically altered,” “pigmyized,” “gutless,” “mass-produced,” ”Viagra-fied,” and so on.
Stories like this barely make an attempt to conceal the collusion afoot behind the vast disinformation, propaganda, and outright social engineering of our age. Today’s faux news is just another tool of the social engineers and plutocrats of the world. Or is it really true that the great majority of Americans are content with their lives?
Note how the Apostle Paul foresaw acharit hayamim (the end of days):
But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. (2 Tim. 3:1-5)
Not such a “happy” list here, is it? Can self-love, arrogance, the pursuit of jacked-up excitement, etc., now be considered synonymous with the traditional word “happiness” in our time? Sadly it appears so….
As Bill Clinton once said, “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is….”
